Post Tesa electronic Key card locks

any questions about these? They are FBI rated, in the usa. The tesa locks have 4 tracks on the card, quinty has 5. I don't know if other countries use them? They are supposedly secure. I know the TESA ones inside and out. They keep track of the last 100 transactions, there is a pushbutton to clear the transaction memory just under the cover. The manual gives specific drilling instructions. to do anything covert with them you need the portable programmer and the programming computer. I had one but returned it for the reward. I think there are a couple card readers floating around. they are powered by 4 AA batteries.
note I just figured out how the spell checker in firefox works - thanks S25

I've never even heard of these, but they sound very interesting, do you have any links at all about them?

I don't but i could try and find some. These locks are becoming the norm. go to any of the higher end hotels, you'll see them. Here in the USA they are everywhere government buildings, financial institutions, labs, ect.

They're magnetic are they not?
Man I cant think of any way the get through them without tampering with the actual mechanisms (i.e. break it apart..) Either that or incredibly hard work at creating or modifying your own key card. Impossible by anyone without right equipment or much inside info (Which i'd guess DeAd has..?)
Might just do a bit of research on them. Do you have any diagrams, descriptions, plans or general documents on how they work etc.?

Gah! Also, hotels, would make it more difficult that they only work for the duration of your stay..

I suppose that would rule out any duplication techniques. You'd probably have to do it mechanically. Unless you had some inside source or could hack the hotels comps..

Edit: ooh deer:

Hey, Any idea on how they're powered?

I wonder what effect an EM charge would have on it... Would they permanently just stay locked?

they are not time Dependant, they keep the current card key code until a new card key is inserted with the progressive next code
There fail state is in the lock mode. They are RF shielded and powered by 4 AA batteries. yea they have magnetic card readers. with 2 leds on top left of card slot. green of course me entry ok. quick red(card go in) means bad key card slow red (card coming out) means wrong code( it wasn't current code and its not the progressive next code) red and green flashing (railroad crossing) means switch 2 is closed(deadbolt locked when equipped. time lockout when no deadbolt equipped((lock won't unlock after hours)
