The original post was about a girl.. so i don't think the stick idea would be very.. cant think of the word.. "gentlemanly" ^^
Usually fights aren't a problem cause if people are so drunk that they need help then they are paralytic or at least quite easily restrained.

Wouldn't squeezing your hand still be a concious action? Since you physically asked her to do it.. I would have thought it to be more of a simpler way of communicating because she can't focus enough to find the words or something.
