I speak fluent English, Irish, and I'm survivable in a Spanish situation.

"Survivable" would be a good way of putting my Irish. I'm trying to lose it though, as a matter of principle.

Fluent english, terrible Irish, a fair bit of German, and two words of Norwegian..
I'd love to learn Dutch, but it for practical reasons, it'd be pointless..

Practical??? wha if say you wanted legal illegal drugs??
Mm in agreement with headcase; Irish language is not native anymore. It should not be compulsory.

I actually quite like Irish. My view is it should be compulsory for your junior cert, but a choice for leaving cert.

Indeed I'd like it were I somewhat good at it However my views are from a somewhat external point of view. Irish is quite clearly a dying language and I see far more value in there being a compulsory Europian language (I know there is like..).
Well I guess that's a step towards the inevitable ultimatum of un-compulsorizing it...
