Default Moderation style at a0tu

Hello all,
We have had quite an influx of newbs here as of late which is good however I do wonder should we be stricter with the things we put up with. Spelling and grammar is a safety thing and some newbs are not researching properly and some just post silly shit! I don't want this to turn into a k3wl board.

Any ideas on how we can deal with this, How do you think we should run this place? Please do not say "I like how it is being done now" Instead say what you like about it.

This is of course an issue any growing forum will face however I have not seen many face up to it well!

Personally, I think spelling and grammar should be issued a verbal warning at first, if they don't correct it, then their posts be deleted with a PM warning. Completely stupid threads should be locked for a short duration (with deletion after the duration), with reasoning behind it of course, and an explanation.

A "What Not To Post" section for locked topics perhaps?

On the more important matter of the members themselves, I think we have a good system in place. A lot of people start off with a stupid question. Simply clarify our position on said l337 topic and hope they take our advice to heart. If not, ban them. No need to overcomplicate.

I enjoy the more relaxed feel of the forum as opposed to RS. One thing that gets to me though (I don't know why this bothers me, but its just annoying) is when a new thread is posted on a topic that has been discussed more than once, specificly threads regarding acetone peroxide. Unless you have some revolutionary way to make tetrameric or something, I am sure your post will fit in one of the many many other AP threads out there.

Yeah... I think that this board should be here for people who want MODERATED discussion (in contrast to a place like bombshock, where just about any post goes). They may not be Ejamucated yet, like the rest of us. I don't really have a problem with any specific topics per se: I have a problem with people posting crap, like that thread started by sitting bull. If someone has a question about AP, then I feel that he should be allowed to post it. We'll know if he's done his reading.

Another type of thread that I feel is perfectly fine is the "OK, this is what I'm about to do. Does anybody have any suggestions, spot any flaws, or have any advice to give?" I, for instance, always go over any kind of paperwork that I have to submit with the person to whom I'm submitting it... that kind of oversight catches a lot of the stupid errors.

As long as this place remains intelligent, and doesn't turn into /b/, it's all good.
And I agree with this DON'T POST LIKE THIS board.
