I think it's probably the chipset of your wifi card if it's a hardware based issue.. Not too many actually have chipsets that suppport packet injection. Get backtrack, it's a pretty good live cd for security, including wifi attacks. Get an Atheros based chip, they seem pretty popular. I got mine for about 99 euro in PC world in Ireland, but you can probably find them cheaper than that.
Judging by the error though, it may be the way you're making it attack.. What software are you using? Can you post more of the data so I can get a look?

Cain and Abel was mentioned earlier on in the thread. I mentioned I had problems with it and I did a virus scan on Sunday morning. Turns out there were several viruses in the Cain and Abel folder. Since I permanently got rid of it my PC is working much better. Just a heads up folks!

In my experience, I have gotten into routers within 6 minutes.. I used a linux live cd. Download and burn Backtrack and then boot into it. The only tools you will need are kismet and aircrack-ng.
All you need to do is a little bit of configuring (usually nothing major) and run the programs. It doesn't involve too much, and is usually very fast.

Hehe! No bother.. The new method available with aircrack is pretty powerful! It needs a very small amount of IV's.. Although, you need to be using the 'ARP replay' attack.

For any newbies to this: You just need to sniff one stray IV and aireplay (part of the aircrack package) will fire it back to the router, generating traffic, consisting of more and more IV's. Using these (when you have enough) you can get the key! It's amazing, the FMS attack was considered genius.. Now there's something that need 1/4 (in my experience) of the number of packets!
