Hi All
A terrible thing happened to me yesterday. Somebody/something managed to change the password on both my hotmail and gmail accounts making it impossible for me to access them. To say the least, im pretty pissed because all my emails contacts are lost. On top of that, someone could be using the account to pretend they are me which really freaks me out! Any ideas on what this could be? I thought at first it was a practical joker but after they managed to get both accounts, im beginning to think it could be something more sinister....... |

Did you use the same password? Or password reset button? Have you scanned you're computer for any malware?

Hi
I normally change my password once a month and I dont use the same password for everything. Its quite complicated what actually happened. First, I recieved an email to the secondary email address (my MSN) for my gmail account with a link to reset the gmail password. I thought nothing of it and ten minutes later, I tried to log into the gmail, only to find my password didnt work. Thats when alarm bells started ringing. I then went back to my MSN and tried the link to reset the gmail password, but it had already been used. This meant someone had access to both my gmail and hotmail accounts (two completely different passwords). At this point, the password for my MSN address was still working and I changed it as a precaution. But 20mins later the new MSN password stopped working too. I can only imagine someone was actively recording my keystrokes somehow, and they were very quick at changing passwords because all this happened in the space of 30 mins. I have scanned the suspect HDD (which I will not use again) with every malware scanner I can think of, but still nothing has turned up..... |

Password reset for gmail was on hotmail account and hotmail reset was to gmail account maybe? So it only took one, Now if a site you are a member of was hacked and the DB released this is a possibility of what happened.
Sad to hear it happened to you. Really it is all guess work. Sorry i cannot be of any service. |

Perhaps you went onto a page with a cookie stealer, that would get all your login info, they're pretty common because the PHP code is on like everysite, did you go to any wierd site?
