For Discussion of and about. Uses etc.
In my experience I've found these a very commonly used and interesting aspect of electronics. Commonly used in analyctic sciences as its use in making amplifiers to record small signal outputs etc with a virtually infinite gain. But of course it has many other uses. Here a link to a list of such uses and interesting circuits containing them: http://www-micrel.deis.unibo.it/~ben...ding/AN-31.pdf Quite a few useful circuits in there.

You do electronics?
Op-Amps, the BANE of my life... 741 is a VERY common one, used a lot in amplifiers, receivers and transmitters. |

HELL NO!
NE555 is not an op-amp, would be a timer chip. |

So's PICs, and LED drivers and .... EVERYTHING !
The 8 pin DIP is a common chip package. Digikey lists 4,528 different 8 pin DIP chips. |
