Default Vista Issues

Issues with Vista; I left myself a lot of room to work with there. Two things to kick off with though. Don't worry, there'll be more in the future - I've only had Vista for three days.

1. Opening a tab to your homepage; Like IE's most recent upgrade on XP, opening a new tab brought you to a page detailing how to open tabs and so on, with an option to "not display this message again" on the bottom, which I clicked. On XP, that meant opening a new tab brought me to my homepage (Google). Now, on Vista, it brings me to "Blank Page". Why? Dunno. How do I fix it? That's where you come in. I tried UsingTFSE but "Vista" and "Homepage" are difficult search terms.

2. "All Programs". Who's idea was it to put all your programs in one big list? Whoever it was, tell them it was retarded. Is there any way to get it to open out like in XP?

To be continued...

(And, before you say it, re-installing XP (or Linux) isn't an option)

The blank page problem can be fixed by going to tools in IE, then Internet Options, then at the bottom right the is a settings button for tabs, in the settings menu you can select to open to your home page when a new tab is opened.

As for the other problem there is no fix that I know of, but what is the problem really? it works just as well as XP, 98 and 95 IMHO.

There's no fix or otherwise, it's designed like that. I like it, if it weren't for the fact that my laptop semi-freezes every time I click on a program folder, which is bloody annoying...

I believe that there is a limit of how many files you can copy at a time, something like 60,000ish, any more and vista crashes...

Although some problems get fixed in SP1. My mate's one of the main testers for it.

Everything you listed can be changed through Vista.

This is why Vista gets a bad rap. Idiot users who can't figure out how to fix simple things so they blame it on the OS.

Pro-Tip: Control Panel and Settings are there for a reason.

I don't have a major amount of experience with Vista, but I find myself rather baffled with it. Getting to the C:\ drive with the explorer provided is a task in itself! I haven't had too much time to look around on it, but considering that it installs a load of unnecessary stuff like bluetooth when there is no need, that's a bit of an annoyance for me.

Guys, it's just a new GUI w/a few new features that don't change enough to make it entirely foreign.
