No worries, they are confusing to say the least.
it would seem that the .54 round is rather stocky, not particularly slender or stabilized, hows the accuracy with it? |

One drawback might be a broken shoulder. (On that note, I think I included a patent on a stand for an rpg that would allow for remote triggering.) Although the original charge wouldn't have to be large, remember that this kind of projectile is going to be heavy, and there's an EQUAL and OPPOSITE pressure against your shoulder. (Mortars tend to dig themselves into the ground. )Would it be simpler to forgo (sp?) the propellant charge? While we're on that note, what are you going to use for a solid propellant in your engine? IIRC, LAW and Disorder gives the specific type of model rocket engine to use, but you can't buy it legally without a license.

@ TheFallen: The .54 shoots about 2-3 inch groups at 200 yards with Pyrodex propellant pellets, 2 60 grain pellets. The sabot itself is .54cal but the bullet is .45 hollowpoint, the Sabot engages the rifling so it still has a good spin on it. I know 200 yards isn't the best but anything past that i just use a remington model 700. That is good at reaching out and touching someone up to about 500-600 yards.
@Enkidu: As far as the propellant goes you also included a guide about how to create rocket motors. All I can do at the moment is speculate as i do not have the materials or the opportunity to try them out until I move to NC. I do guarantee when I get there I will be getting to work on this within a month though. Also are you sure it requires a license to get those model rocket engines? I am in the US and i have found several online dealers that have those rocket engines. Edit: here is a web page that sales those engines: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXF411#tech Thank you guys for continuing helping me work through this.

Im willing to help with the design... i have plenty of room for operational tests..... the problem i see is the he filling for the warhead im not much of a chemist but the rocketry part is my forte.. a tube launcher with a small ejection charge and a sustainer solid rocket wouls be great for the project

hey Predator its nice to have another rocket nut on the net. just something to look at http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/b...t=32178aeb.flv edit hey I thought i lost this, a long time ago. Its crude. But i had tons of fun with it. ***Hopefully*** if someone says something bad about it, they will post pictures of THEIR version in the same post. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...o/100_1559.jpg tube select buttons. 1 at a time or all 3 at once. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...o/100_1560.jpg fire button battery holder http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...o/100_1561.jpg battery holder 6 AA http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...o/100_1562.jpg the contacts are starting to peel off http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...o/100_1563.jpg one yellow led is missing

DeAD you goign to have to accept people who haven't got pictures, or haven't made their own will comment. Not everyone where's made a tripled barreled rocket launcher, and if you're going to restrict people's comments, you won't get many replies.
If you disagree, say you do, and leave it at that, although it's always satisfying to show them why you think that they are wrong. That video is quite good, as it shows you that first the rocket is boosted out of the launch tube and then the main rocket motor ignites, following that the electronics come on line and steer it up so it can sense the target. However to me that looks suspiciously like a Copperhead, which is a Tank/armored vehicle launched anti tank weapon. |
