Default tactical blinding device

After reading the disposible flash projector website, I got this handy idea for a non-metal "weapon". A flashbang has got the main disadvantage that an ejected fuse could make your non-letal weapon quite deadly, but what if you could generate enough candela electronically?

It seems simple enough to modify a disposible camera so that it will emit a blinding flash. You could almost as easely make a small, easy to hold device, with two or more stronger lights, with multiple capacitators lined up in series and a slot for a battery or two (I've got some lying around)

The result would be that you could flash somebody, and make your way out of a "situation" without anybody getting hurt (you included).

Before I start playing around with this (I'd have a chance in a month or so), am I terrebly mistaking somewhere, am I going to get myself killed, or will the device end up as nothing more than a flash-light that couldn't blind a mole?

well the idea would be for it to only flash forward, so 40° would be perfect for ranges from 1-2 meters

I was also thinking of something else than a camera flash tube, more like a few, more powerfull lights.

Fallen: aren't those resistor formula? When you link batteries in series, their voltage get's combined, and since tazers use capacitators linked in series i figuered ...

hell, I have still got plenty of research to do anyway, and S25's argument is still the best one to simply abandon this project.

Go and flash yourself in the face with a camera. Even expensive external flashes for professional applications arent going to do much from a range < 40cm or so. Definitely not enough to stop someone chasing after you etc.

"I was also thinking of something else than a camera flash tube, more like a few, more powerfull lights" Well camera flashes arent 'lights' they are gas discharge tubes. So I assume you mean something with a fillament. -- no way.

Quite simply, it isnt an effective means of blinding someone.
