If you could only have one rifle, would you pick the AK-47 or the AR-15. The AR-15 is the civilian version of the USA M-16. The AK-47's sold in the USA are non-auto, meaning they can only fire 1 bullet at a time.
Which rifle is better for self defense? |

Indoor self defence ?
A rifle? ARE YOU MAD? USP tactical with Laser sight, that's your best bet mate. Small for easy home based concealment, accurate, and perfect, go for a the .45 ACP version. Power to take them down. As for the difference, AK47 is designed to kill, the AR15 is designed to wound. the 5.56 round is also designed to go through ammo trucks, the 7.62 is meant to drop you, no further questions asked. |

but if u get that ar-15 round into a roll which it is likely to do it can take off an arm it is definantly not a wounding weapon but i would have to go with the good ol kalash if im fighting for my life i dont want a gun that i have to clean every hour and has more stopping power plus the ammo is more easier to find if theenemy is who it has been for the past 40 years

Into a roll? Both the 7.62 and the 5.56 round are boat-tailed, and normally ball-point or FMJ (Full Metal Jacket). Due to the boat-tailed shape, they fly further, but they are also unstable, so upon entering an object they have a tendency to tumble, causing lots of damage, the 7.62 more so, but the 5.56 will also. I know it's designed to wound, I have had some lengthy discussions with currently serving members of the British Army upon this subject.
As for ammo, the chances are your going to be attacked by SWAT or something more than Al'Quida or some other AK47 wielding group. As for the cleaning every hour, that's crap. the AR15 is not as bad as people think, nor is the SA80. I find the SA80 to jam only when you lay it on wet ground or like wise, something that your unlikely do do. However the SA80 is pretty much THE most accurate commonly used military assault rifle ever. Personally, I'd love one of these: http://www.enemyforces.com/firearms/lr300.htm |

I would now be ranting about the P90 but ill settle with AR15...
For some reason I dont like the AK to much.... seems a bit of a stoneage gun to me... Not sure if that makes much sense but meh...
