My favrouritie just just some wire headphones with the speakers cut off. Sure, even a tshirt stops it, but it hurts like hell on bare skin

As a tradesman I occasionally leave work with my steel ruler in the pocket of my trousers. It can cause great pain even with a light blow, and is longer than most knives (30 cm.) Not something I habitually carry, but worth remembering.
My steel-capped work boots would come in handy too.
