If you are preparing to take the GED, you are taking a step that can lead to great things for you! Once you pass the test, you can get a better job, pursue vocational training, or go to college. You can also take some IT courses in Cisco training, SQL training, and even Windows 7 courses to help you get a better job. Your primary concern right now, though, is to do your best on the exam. Getting plenty of sleep the night before and knowing your stuff is a good start. Some test-taking strategies can help you be a smarter test-taker and get a better score.

There is a method to getting the maximum score possible on the GED, and it involves skipping questions. This may seem like a bad idea, but skipping the questions you don’t know gives you more time to concentrate on the ones you do know. When completing a particular section, don’t linger for too long on any single problem, or you will not have time to get to questions that may be a breeze for you. You can always spend more time on those harder questions at the end.

Though it is a good idea to skip a question that stumps you, that doesn’t mean you should leave it blank. Some types of exams deduct points for wrong answers, but the GED is not one of them. There is no harm in taking an educated guess if you simply don’t know the answer. It won’t negatively affect your score, and you will have a chance of getting the question right.

Another good tip is to know the formulas that will be used in the math section in advance of taking the test. You will waste valuable time trying to come up with the correct formula if you are not prepared. If you memorize these formulas ahead of time and are confident that you know them well, it will serve you better when you are forced to solve problems under pressure.

If you are given a passage with an accompanying set of questions, it is a good idea to quickly look at the questions before you begin to read the passage. This way, you will know what to look for as you read the passage, and you can underline pertinent information as you go along.

Because the GED is a timed exam, some students are thrown off by the time constraints or experience anxiety. Taking some practice tests beforehand can help you learn to pace yourself. If you establish a rhythm of answering questions, spending approximately the same amount of time on each question, you should finish in time.

GED classes can be very helpful for students who wish to learn test-taking strategies. Your teacher can help you to better prepare yourself so that you not only know the information needed to answer the questions, but you know how to pace yourself, avoid trick questions, and make a good educated guess when you don’t know an answer. GED classes are widely available and may be low-cost or free.

Passing your high school equivalency test can be a challenge. With some solid test-taking skills and plenty of preparation, you should be able to get an excellent score. After successfully passing the test, you can go on to earn an Associates degree or better.

I have lived in Korea for a year and a half, arriving in March 2010 from the US. My reasons for moving to Korea are like many other foreigners: to teach English and travel doing so. ESL, or English as a Second Language, has become the rage in Korea these days and teaching in Korea is incredibly rewarding and fun. Another reason is to be offer technological and educational resources.

However, there are also challenges as well. Language barriers and cultural differences will be your greatest obstacle. Fortunately, by turning the tables and using their own Korean pop culture, teaching in the country becomes a lot easier.

Take a look at these three steps to help you in your ESL lessons in Korea:

1) Relate to your students. This is actually a universal rule in teaching, but even more so in a foreign country. The way you relate to Korean students is to talk about things they know. Namely, K-pop. K-pop is so engrained within Korean society that nearly every student – regardless of age – knows all the popular songs. Ever had a whole class sing Girls Generation’s “Gee” or 2PM’s “Hands up”? It’s quite a treat to see.

So the lesson here is don’t talk about that new US musician that just came out. You’ll just get blank stares from the students. Rather, talk about the latest K-pop superstar.

2) Learn the culture. Every country has their own ways of standards. Korea is no exception. Although new teachers will struggle to learn Korea’s culture at first, it will aid you in classroom teaching down the road. Don’t know what Pepero Day is? Ask one of your Korean co-workers. Do you know the significance of Chuseok Day? Take the time to look it up on Wikipedia. Ever heard of the date 6-25 before? Look up history about the Korean War and find out.

Your students will appreciate your attempts to learn their culture. Thus, they will be more motivated to learn.

3) Take a Korean class. Korean can be difficult at first. Their writing system, Hangul, will look like Egyptian hieroglyphics at first sight. Speaking Korean will also be a game of tongue-twister to many. Yet, even knowing basic words will make the students laugh. Rather than tease you, they will be in awe how a foreigner is learning a new language. They will appreciate the fact that you are learning their native language, much like they are learning yours.

Anyone that takes the time to learn someone else’s language shows that you care. And you definitely do.

If you follow these three tips, your students will be motivated to learn in the classroom. Often times, the best way to teach is not having the best theories or mythologies, but rather, to simply relate to the student. To see what makes them tick, their likes, and their hobbies. Once you take a curiosity in learning about them, they’ll naturally do the same for you.

If you search the internet for methods to learn English online, you will come across various websites offering A plus certification help and other free ways to study English. You will need to choose the most suitable site for your situation, that will allow you to learn English in the most efficient manner.

One of the first things that you will likely learn is to listen to the alphabet to hear how each letter sounds. Soon (hopefully!), you will be able to create with these letters your own words and learn how to pronounce them as well.

When you look into learning English online, you will see that there are many options offered in the format of those sites. Some already assume that you know the Spanish alphabet. Therefore it is important to look for the site that provides the ABC training before you can move forward to the grammar lessons.

It is vital to select the site that approaches the learning method from the perspective of listening, speaking, reading as well as writing. These aspects can all be be developed over time as part of your English skillset. In as soon as a matter of weeks with hard work and dedication, you won’t be able to become fluent, but it is possible to become at least conversant in the English language. This of course assume rigorous English training — not just a lesson every now and then.

Online sites provide methods for learning English for both adults and children, often through the utilization in part of playing games —- even for the adult sites. Through the online games, learning English can become an easier and more exciting process as you can be in touch with plenty of English vocabulary words as well as their usage.

Another common learning technique can be through listening to music. You can listen and watch the lyrics that come with the tunes.

Similarly, watching English-language television (also available online) is often recommended for those wanting to pick up the language. Many words and phrases are often subconsciously picked over, particularly when watching elementary-level types of television programs.

Some of the newer advanced language websites even offer the opportunity for live conversation with other English speakers — many people find this method to be more helpful than listening to pre-recorded audio or video.

Learning English or any other language online isn’t for everyone, but even for those people that chose a school for learning, online resources can be a great supplement to your language learning process.

If you aren’t yet fluent in English or Spanish, free online tools allow you to translate English to Spanish and vice versa, from Spanish to English. Additionally, handheld language translators are a good option for people while traveling.

Learning about XML or about the earth and different rock formations can be very interesting. When studying geology, you will learn about many different earth processes such as volcanoes, floods, earthquakes, and landslides. Besides this science being an interesting subject to study, it can also lead to great job opportunities that help people around the globe.

Geology is the study of the earth, earth systems, and earth materials. Geologists examine what the possible causes of earthquakes, volcanoes, and floods and use that information to try and help the masses. Another field that may be closely related to this section of earth sciences is meteorology, which is the study of the atmosphere and the weather.

So, how do you go about getting a degree in geology? You will want to look at different schools specialized science programs to make sure that they offer classes in geology or earth sciences, as well as what degrees they offer. You are not limited to physical colleges and universities, some online schools have degrees and programs for this particular science.

For most schools there are two different degree tracks that a person can take: Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A.). Getting a B.S. will involve a lot of mathematics and science of course. Courses for a B.S. may include higher level math classes, physics, chemistry, biology, and different types of earth science classes. Those who decide to get a B.S. normally go into being a professional geologist. A B.A. is normally for students who would like to teach, go into natural resource management, technical or scientific writing, or any other field with a strong liberal arts and science background. While getting a B.A. you will need to take foreign language classes, at least at most schools.

There are several different specializations within this particular field. One of them is Petroleum Geology which is for students who wish to work in the oil and gas field. Students who decide to use this specialization will learn about sedimentary basins and searching for oil. Geophysics studies the different physical methods of geology such as, gravity, seismic activity, and electric and magnetic properties. There is also geochemistry which looks at the chemical makeup of rocks, as well as their behavior, and the behavior of their minerals. Those are just a few areas of specializations with in this particular field.

Some geologists may work for different government agencies and are considered as contractors. If they choose to work for a private firm or a non-profit or academic institution, they may be able to hold a permanent job. If you choose to major in this field, you can expect a salary around $39,918, which is the national average. Of course, salaries may change from company to company, region, and experience.

Do some research as far as which degree level you would like to pursue. Some companies will take people who have just a bachelor’s degree, but may prefer someone with a master’s or doctoral degree. Depending on the company, people with a higher degree may be more likely to have a higher salary. If geology sounds like an interesting field, you should search for schools today to start your career. For those who already have a full-time job, attending and online school is a great option.

If you are considering an art degree, whether in fine arts, graphic design, photography, or many other disciplines, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is where to attend school and knowledge of Arts and Entertainment news. All art programs are not created equally, and you’ll want to be aware of what to look for in the better programs. You’ll also want to consider what program works best for you personally, taking your location, needs, and finances into consideration. A few guidelines can help you pick the art school that best suits your talents, personality, and circumstances.

First and foremost, you will want to make sure any art program you enroll in is accredited and has a good reputation. Accreditation essentially serves as quality assurance. You will know that you are getting your art education at a good school that is committed to maintaining a standard of academic excellence. Your school should be accredited by an accreditation organization that is officially recognized by the United States Department of Education.

You’ll also want to know whether previous graduates have met with success after completing an art program. It can be difficult to find gainful employment with an art degree, depending on your major. If previous graduates have been able to find good jobs, this is an excellent sign that your prospective art program provides students with the practical knowledge and skills they need to be marketable.

Financial aid is likely important to you to help you afford the cost of your tuition. Federal financial aid programs only fund accredited schools, which is another good reason to attend an accredited program. You may also want to know whether the school itself provides financial aid, such as tuition reduction, to promising students who meet certain requirements. A scholarship can make all the difference when it comes to affording tuition.

Visiting your prospective college is especially important when choosing an art program. Hopefully, your school and its surrounding town or city inspires you. The architecture and grounds should be appealing. You should feel like you fit in with the current students when you take a stroll around campus. Could you picture yourself there?

The resources you need should also be readily available. You would not want to attend school in facilities that are outdated or studios that are too small to accommodate students. You will want spacious, airy, well-lit rooms if you are an artist that works on a large scale. If you are a graphic artist, you will require up-to-date computers and other technology in the graphic design studios.

Do you admire the faculty? The faculty in your particular program should have a lot in common with you and share similar interests and goals. If not, you will be at odds with your faculty in the program. For instance, if you wish to be a commercial artist or cartoonist, you will want faculty members who support you and assist you in achieving your goals, rather than putting you down. Do some research about the professors at your school to find out their concentrations.

Especially for artists, who are often heavily influenced by their surroundings, picking the right art degree programs is important. If you are doing graphic arts, you might even be able to go to an online school. With some research, campus visits, and a bit of intuition, you should make the right choice.

A central tenet of modern behavioral ecology maintains that blood relationship plays a crucial role in comprehending the evolution of social conduct. This is especially so, concerning the personal cost in social behavior and entropy concepts, such as altruism and cooperation. However, this was not always the case with early evolutionists, such as Darwin. It troubled Darwin that worker bees sacrificed themselves to protect their hives because altruism did not fit in with his ‘survival of the fittest’ scenario, especially as, in his view, increased reproduction is the currency of ‘natural selection’. According to his theory there was no place for altruism, yet this selflessness among species persisted. This major flaw in his argument nearly sank his whole theory of ‘natural selection’ because ethical behavior among species had no place in his theory of evolution. Then Darwin put forward an explanation. He hypothesized that since sterile worker bees were helping their blood relatives, especially the queen, natural selection might favor altruism at the level of blood kin.

Just over a hundred years later, biologist William Hamilton endorsed Darwin’s idea of natural eugenics, despite it having been largely discredited, as new evolutionary evidence came to light. The subject of altruism among species became of interest to the ‘Humanities’, in particular politics, philosophy and sociology. Hard science, which was much more comfortable studying impersonal atomic structures than it was researching altruism, which could be very personal, had no interest in concepts about ‘good’ and ‘bad’.

Hamilton took a cold, hard economic approach to explain how natural selection could maximize fitness, while still allowing for the evolution of ethics and altruism. As a graduate at the London School of Economics, Hamilton applied his cost-benefit optimization analysis to Darwin’s evolutionary altruism problem. This was a watershed moment for the evolutionary and behavioral sciences.

During 1968, an unsung genius, George Price, came across Hamilton’s models on evolutionary kinship and altruism. After reading that such qualities as ‘goodness’ were no longer exempt from scientific analysis, Price became very depressed. Starting from scratch he studied Hamilton’s mathematics and discovered that they were correct and, also, they could be taken further to study the evolution of ‘spiteful behavior’, as well as that of altruism. From Hamilton’s models, Price developed a new concept based on covariance analysis. Using this methodology, Price discovered that when average relatedness within groups is less than the average genetic relatedness within the population, spiteful behavior can evolve.

Hamilton picked up on Price’s ideas and in his 1970 paper ‘Selfish and Spiteful Behavior in an Evolutionary Model’ he considered as to whether harm inflicted upon an organism must inevitably be a by product of adaptations for survival. He asked, what of possible cases where an organism is deliberately harming others without apparent benefit to itself? Such spiteful behavior could be explained as the increase in the chance of an organism’s genetic alleles being passed on to the next generations by harming those that are less closely related.

The most disturbing aspect central to Hamilton’s selflessness/spite evolutionary model is the idea that we are merely machines, driven by our genes for our genetic survival. That it doesn’t matter whether we are altruistic or spiteful, because the ends justifies the means. Such a sociopath approach to evolution flies in the face of the ancient Platonic Science for Ethical Ends and the qualities of: love, justice, beauty, unity, well being etc. However, despite, or because of, his mechanical eugenics for genetic survival, Hamilton became proclaimed as primary theoretical innovator in modern Darwinian biology. The many accolades showered on Hamilton for his work in evolutionary biology are not surprising because it follows a logical progression and outcome in a society obsessed by the fate of entropic extinction required by the dictates of the second law of thermodynamics. According to Hamilton it does not matter what we do in our lives, whether out of spite or out of selflessness. Its all the same to our genes, which are assumed to drive our evolution. However, this overall acceleration toward entropic extinction makes no practical sense as a life-science purpose.

However, not all scientists hold this cold, calculating view of society. In his ‘The Biology of Belief’ Biologist, Dr Bruce Lipton shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology; that instead DNA is controlled by signals from our environment, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts. Dr. Lipton’s profoundly hopeful synthesis of the latest and best research in cell biology and quantum physics shows major flaws in Hamilton’s evolutionary model. According to Lipton, not only do the genes not drive evolution, the nucleus is no longer considered the brain of the cell. The membrane, which processes environmental information that is constantly and continuously reassembled by DNA, is the true brain of the cell. This is being hailed as a breakthrough, showing that our genes and bodies can be changed as we retrain our thinking.

In retrospect, it is clear to see that Hamilton’s evolutionary model was based on a flawed understanding of, both DNA and evolution, which is driven by our environment, not our genes. Genetic scientists, since Crick and Watson, have assumed that only the 5% of coded DNA is of any use. Until recently, the remaining 95% has been considered ‘Junk DNA’. However, recent, ground-breaking work by Russian biologist Piotr Garjajev and some Russian linguistic experts, concur with a recent theory that suggests the real function of DNA is to act as a ‘parasitic inhibitor’ and ‘regulator’ of life on planet Earth. Taking this concept much further, Garjajev posits that, so called junk DNA is actually a computer hologram, based on fractal algorithms that work with laser-type radiations. Simply put, DNA is an extraordinary generator of perceptions, an instrument of virtual reality. As Hamilton suggested, its function is to evolve but not in the competitive way he envisaged.

Garjajev and his research colleagues postulate that ‘junk DNA’ is in fact a sophisticated fractal-based language, similar to that of holographic images, based on principles of laser radiations of the genetic structures, and which operates together as a quasi-intelligent system. This quasi intelligent system acts as a kind of bio-computer capable of downloading universal evolutionary survival information, based on cooperation, not competition. This takes Hamilton’s and Darwin’s ideas concerning altruism to a whole new level, in which ethics is not just about protecting close blood kin for evolutionary survival. Ethics, in the sense of the evolutionary process, is about the health and continuance of life within the entire universe.

Human beings think they’re pretty special because they are at the top of the food chain, they have air-conditioning, they can build jet airliners, and they understand biomechanics and structural integration. Yes that’s pretty cool, and being able to put up satellites and travel to the moon are also examples of human intellect, and perhaps a reason to be species-centric.

Nevertheless, there are species on this planet that can see infrared, have sonar, and can do all sorts of other things. Perhaps somewhere in our junk DNA, humans also have such abilities to a lesser degree. Scientists may one day discover all of this. And perhaps some of these abilities which we have long forgotten, perhaps because we didn’t use them have evolved away from the current human model.

Not long ago there was an interesting article in Space Daily Online posted to the Exo-Life Category titled; “Most vertebrates descended from ancestor with sixth sense,” by Staff Writers in Ithaca, NY and published on October 27, 2011. The article noted something rather fascinating as it stated:

“We see the world through 5-senses but sharks, paddlefishes and certain other aquatic vertebrates have a sixth sense: They can detect weak electrical fields and use this information to detect prey, communicate, and orient themselves. Using the Mexican Axolotl as a model to represent the evolutionary lineage leading to land animals, and paddlefish as a model for the branch leading to ray-finned fishes, the researchers found that electro-sensors develop in precisely the same pattern from the same embryonic tissue in the developing skin, confirming that this is an ancient sensory system.”

Should any of this surprise us? No, actually it shouldn’t, and in the future, someday, we will find species on other planets which have abilities such as these, and others we may have never seen. It may seem like magic to us, as we only have the five senses, and the occasional anomaly to a six, seven, or eighth. People who are blind, seem to be able to use echolocation, and there are humans that can see an extra hue of color. There are some that swear that they can sense or feel another’s emotions, or even read their minds, or get onto the same wavelength.

Of course all that speculation, but these sea creatures actually are able to sense electro-bio-rhythms. This ability helps keep them alive in a hostile environment, as well as hunt for food. Humans probably don’t need that anymore, because they just go down to the grocery store and buy something, but if they were living in the Amazon jungle that might come in pretty handy, and be a real lifesaver from time to time. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

If you are looking for a telescope that utilizes the latest technology in its effort to get rid of blurry objects in your view, the LX200 EMC is worth considering. The LX200 portrays for you a flat image that is sharp and distinct. Meade gets rid of the blurriness that can ruin a night of careful observation and replaces it with a sharp clear image. This feat is accomplished with the careful placement of hyperbolic mirrors, and it is an extraordinary achievement for the scientists at Meade. You can imagine, after viewing sharp clear images of popular objects in the Universe, an astronomer would not want to go back to viewing blurry images.

The reason the LX200 Meade can offer such a good image for such a reasonable price has to do with the different types of mirrors and lenses that were integrated into it. This switching of lenses and mirrors has been experimental, but it has been an experiment that has paid off big for Meade and their customers. A certain combination of mirrors and lenses takes the blurry image and clarifies it, recording a more accurate picture of objects in the Universe for you to appreciate. The Meade LX200 was the first telescope to employ this “coma-free” design. It has since revolutionized the industry by bringing cost and efficiency together for professionals and amateurs alike.

The LX200 Meade 12 inch telescope presents to you a bright and clearly defined picture of stars and whole galaxies via its zero image shift micro-focuser. It is also quite valuable as a tool for viewing and gathering data on the planets in our solar system. An extra-large primary mirror brings this sharper focus to the picture. To photograph the stars or planets requires the telescope not shake. Even a little vibration of the equipment can cause problems developing an image. An adjustment of the mirror lock on the Meade LX200 will bring an end to the shaking problem and make your picture taking experience a pleasant one.

The Meade LX200 includes within it a GPS system that makes telescope alignment not only easy but extremely accurate. If you leave your observation spot and return later, this telescope will re-align itself to point at the stars you were viewing previously. And if there are any adjustments that need to be made because of errors that took place in the alignment of this telescope, there is an alignment feature that will straighten these errors out. This telescope is as professional as it gets, but it was created with the amateur in mind as well. Meade has created the LX200 to modernize the viewing experience and bring to the public advanced tools previously reserved for the professional.

Since different projects require different types and sizes of telescopes, the Meade LX200 comes in different sizes. Each size utilizes coma free viewing. And the brightness of the objects in view has been increased by 1.2 times due to an advanced ultra-high transmission coating. This telescope can put the whole Universe into your grasp, and it has been offered to you by Meade.

Children love stars. Even more so, they enjoy searching for stars in the night sky. As a parent, you may want to teach your child a thing or two about constellations. To get started, you can show them how to find the North Star and explain to them the historical significance attached to it. Of course, this is something that science teachers may be interested in introducing to students as well.

There are many tricks for finding the North Star. Here are three steps in finding it that you should consider teaching to young children:

1. The easiest way to find the North Star is to first locate the Big Dipper – which is located in the northern part of the sky. As the name suggests, this looks like a big dipper, or ladle as the children may call it. It is a large formation of seven stars that are easily recognized because of their brightness and the formation.

2. Once you have found the Big Dipper, finding the North Star is simple. Find the two stars that form the edge of the Big Dipper cup, away from the handle. These are known as the pointer stars because when lined up they point directly at the North Star.

3. Follow an imaginary line through the stars and end up at the North Star.

Does it get any easier than that?

A lot of people think that the North Star is the brightest in the northern sky. Actually, it is not very bright, but it is easy to find because the stars that surround it are fairly dim relative to the North Star. For first timers, you should take the time to show them the way. This may not be easy to do the first time around, but once your children know what they are looking for it will become second nature to them to find it.

If you are interested in teaching your students or children about stars, it makes good sense to start with the North Star. This is among the most well known stars, so it is a great starting point. From there it becomes simple to point out all the other formations that are in the sky, including the Bear (formally known as Ursa Major), whose seven brightest stars form the Big Dipper.

While you are teaching how to find the North Star, it is a great time to explain its historical significance back to the time of Christ, through Columbus following it to find the New World and the slaves following it to find their way north on what became known as the Underground Railroad. A few of the other details that you may want to discuss include: star lives, star births, star deaths, and the significance of the stars in the sky.

There are lesson plans based around constellations and stars for children of all grade levels. No matter if you are dealing with first grade students or those in the upper grades of high school, the right lesson plans will help you get on the right track.

When teaching children how to find the North Star, make sure they are well aware of the three tips above and how to follow the steps from start to finish. With these tips, finding the North Star is a simple task. Some nights it will be easier to see than others, but for the most part you should able to find what you are looking for.

Finding constellations can be a lot of fun. By teaching children how to find the North Star at an early age, you can get them excited about astronomy and other related subjects.
